kill switch?

is it possible to fit a pull kill switch to this Johnson Evenrude 1.2hp colt?
If so..... in layman's terms how?
I'm after fitting the outboard on the back of a sit on kayak and want to make sure I can cut the engine should the worst happen.
Cheers.

You will need to fit the switch to break the green wire between the points and the coil. Drill a hole in the baseplate to get the wires through it. You also need a kill switch that loses contact when you pull the chord out from a stern drive or similar not a modern outboard one, they all make contact when you pull chord

kill switch

you can also use a normally open contact kill switch, ground or earth one side of it and the other side to the coil

Have found 2 kill switches,,,,, both make a circuit when the key is removed.
So will see what's on line.

My Mercury remote uses a toggle switch. One way for off, the other for on.
Kill cord plastic loop goes over the toggle.
Covered by a small plastic box shape to prevent the plastic loop on the end of the kill cord falling off but open on the bottom so the cord can come off after operation so you aren't tethered to the boat.

Whether you could rig something up like that as the wiring would be easy.
