Johnson 90hp power increase

Ive got a 1yr old johnson 90 v4
ive heard its exatly the same engine up to 140hp.
Is there a way i can get some more wellie out, id like about 115hp
Someone said its just a case of chaging the carb jets?
Anyone got any ideas?

Hi Simon,If its the same block as the fict the 90 is the same as the115 if your talking about 2 stroke I have brand new ai prop 14x17 for the 90 will sell if you need one

Whoever told you that is a complete fuckwit.

I'd love to get hold of one of these bloody idiots that goes around saying 'all you have to do is change the jets' and wring their stupid necks.They must be responsible for so many dead engines...Next time someone says that to you tell them if they can't have an informed opinion then don't bother opening their mouth.

All that upping the jet size will do is make it run richer and trash it. It DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S THE SAME ORIGINAL BLOCK. There's a whole host of other stuff that's done to get the power increase-ignition remapping, port remodelling,carburettors are rarely the same, different piston crown/skirt profiles, different reed valves...and that's just on a carb model.

Don't bother even thinking about it. It'll be cheaper selling yours and buying a brand new one. It's only really worth doing on small engines with 2nd hand spares.
