Johnson 70 HP TL 1998

Hello,

What is your experience with a Johnson 70HP TL from 1998? Is it a trustable outboard engine and what should be the price for it? Someone told me Johnson had a bad year in 1998, is that right?

Tnx,
Jan

Great engine for a small rib, had one on a ribtec 5.4m produced 36 mph and used about 4 gph. Mine was ex RNLI and cost a premium because it was mint. Weak point is the oil injection which many disconnect, including the RNLI, and run premix. The basic design has changed little over the years so lots of spares. about.
