ignition problem

hi guys n gals I've been working away at a 65hp Johnson engine and got help before on where the big wires from the battery go.

problem now I've wired up the ignition and its not starting I've checked and double checked the wiring. its not in gear. i have power in the battery and i can jump start the engine by putting the ignition wire in my case its white not yellow onto a live terminal.

I've tested the wire with a multi-meter and I'm not getting any power through the big thick red wire is this always hot. or would there be anything else that cuts off the power to the red wire

If you could post pics of all the components/connections it'll be much easier to find the problem. 👍
