Hydradrive noise?

Ive got a yam Hydradrive running off ME 370sti. at end of the season I got noise coming from leg when in gear. I only ran with this noise for about 2 miles to get back to base. Sound is in time with the prop. low pitch level wooshing/ grinding. I have put her in gear once or twice since to listen to noise but nothing more than 10 seconds.

Drained oil - its ok
small amount of fine filings on drain plug - nothing exceptional
took leg off and checked main drive shaft bearing - its smooth/ok
took head/ top off leg and gears/cogs all fine and action smooth
prop apears to turn ok forward and reverse

There is hydrolic oil in the top bellows? I dont think it should be there? Is there bearings in the unit behind the universal joint on the drive shaft?

might be related but nearing end of season when I put her in reverse gear it would take a few seconds for her to go into gear, smooth in forward and no delay.

any ideas on what I should be looking for?

also does anyone know if its possible to get a flush for the leg?

thanks
ww

Sounds like you need a new gimbal bearing
