Pretty sure the 13' (rated to 50) the sailing club used to have as a rescue boat was short shaft sized too.....

Chopped perhaps.

From around late '80s the Dellboy 13's were longshaft. Earlier ones could have been 15". I'm too young to know

My 2006 Zodiac Pro 7-man (4.2m) was suitable for a long-shaft engine. Zodiac renamed it (wait for it... a 420!) I know earlier Pros (possibly up until 2003) were short-shaft, as the transom was different. Personally I like a little more freeboard between me and Neptune!

Why don't you e mail or call a few local dealers and see what they offer you as a trade in. It's going to be less than its re-sale price but you can add a few hundred pounds on and get a good average price for your Honda engine.

I don't think it will be anywhere near three grand though

Nah, it was built like that. (Possibly in an attempt to reduce the waater retaining capability of the hull? ) This was an early one.
