Help which outboard? For my rib

Hi

I have a choice of a Yamaha 40 or a mariner 40 or twatso 40.

This is for my flatacraft force 4..

Marina is 4450
Yamaha. 5195
Twatso 4750

Can't find a 50 which works or available in the next couple of months at least..

What would you go for ? Which is best deal and I'd the Yamaha worth the extra cash

Yamaha is good, no denying, that said, but I'd be inclined to wait for 50hp. No point getting something and then wishing you had more horses on tap.

That a lot of cash to be laying out for a Flatacraft (no offence to current owners)

I'd have thought most dealers would be wanting to bite your hand off and do a deal. I'm on the Tohatsu outboard forum, and a lot of boaters state-side are buying them, and they look the absolute business.

Seriously you think I should just fit a old motor as this is a old boat ... Having said that it's in great condition

Down the line, if you selling the Flatacraft, then you're not going to with a mint Tohatsu bolted to the transom.

What I'm saying, if you're determined to buy a new engine then go for 50hp. This gives you options. You potentially could put it on another sub-5m rib/sib, but importantly it will be more saleable. Mid-sized engines are always in short supply, so a 50hp long shaft will sell itself.

Back to your current dilemma. There are engines out there. This for example: https://www.clyde-outboard-services....remote-control

This is probably the perfect thing but you'd need to be a bit creative about the use of it to be able to buy it.
