Hi Matt h!, All good, most design stuff done, compact hydraulic steering ram arrived, and wouldn't fit of course!, so had to make support frame adjustments, all frames and engine ( in bits!) removed for paint refurb at present, finishing transom modification paint and filler, so very soon will be craning it all back in and beginning the big wire up,
Will send some more pics with the new developments soon, thanks very much for your continued support, rgds

Very interesting project.

I have 3 (pessimistic questions)
How loud is it?
How do you contain a failure of one of the turbine discs?
How sensitive will it be to airflow changes? I'm thinking speed variation/water breaking over boat etc

F.....ing loud!
Failure of turbine.....ouch it's going to puncture the tube!!!!
Gas turbine not bothered about airflow. Water in boat bad news, must not ingest sea water!!!

it's a rib, water will be coming in at some point. can you build some sort of duct to minimise the chance?

Yes an intake cover/duct is about it, its the same problem the MTT mercury outboard has!,
Obviously this is a novelty project and as such probably won't do too many sea miles!, lol!, (I am a very fair weather navigator!!), tick over is 35hp!!

Fuel consumption is actually probably not a lot different to a big v8 and probably not a whole lot different to an old school big two stroke outboard but considering the fuel is probably less than half the cost of petrol makes it not as daft as it first sounds
Probably a whole lot more fun too
