Do you mean Ficht? Kieron @ Ribshop has rebuilt a few so probably knows them as good as any! Essentially the predecessor to the etec. The later ones are (apparently) better than the earlier ones: apparently BRP sorted out many of the issues the earlier ones had, so if buying look for one with a BRP sticker on. My experience: they are pretty fussy about what sort of oil you stick in them. Had one go bang after an incompetent instructor shoved two cans of the wrong stuff in.

I'm not sure that's quite relevant-the damn fool stuck 4 stroke oil in it.

I had a 175hp FICHT Ram on the back of my last boat (RC 585) It was one of the last ones from OMC before they went bust. I had it for 6 years & it only had a fuel pump on it, apart from that no problems. Use the FICHT ram oil in it or XD100. Apparently the early ones had problems sooting up which destroys 2 strokes.

Had 2 x 115 Fichts on the boat when I bought it, they were high hours but ran great for a good couple of years. Had an oil injector go which fooked one of the cylinders in the end, guy I sold them to was going to rebore.

As others have said, be careful of the oil.

I have a 135Hp Ficht, 2002, one of the BRP models.

I want to do my own servicing, and have managed to get hold of a manual, but one thing troubling me is the plugs.

I have heard people mentioning that the plugs need indexing, but the manual i have (which covers all odels 2002 to 2007, and all HP)
1, dosent mention 135 HP models???
2, doesnt mention indexing of plugs.

Do i have to index the plugs, and if so how?

I have bought a diagnostics cable and software, and it should be arriving in the next few days, and will be a few weeks before I am home to do the job, but any info would be appreciated

Cheers,
Gary

Hi have a "99" 115 ficht. Although I have had a couple of daft problems, it's an excellent engine, economy and power..... Although I'm thinking I need to change the seals in the lower unit, anyone have any pointers or a manual for it?

Cheers, phil
