Evinrude engine Safety recall - Australia

Bombardier Recreational products have issued a safety recall in Australia of various evinrude direct injection models. Namely the 2001 (SI) 200, 225,250HP, the 2004(SR) 200, 225 and 250 HP and the 2005 (SO) 100, 115, 135, 150, 175, 200, 225 ad 250 HP models. No etec engines are affected.

The worst part is they have told me it could be a month before new parts arrive

Anyone know is a similar recall is out for the UK or US?

Problems relates to faulty fuel injector fasteners, that could separate and end up pumping the engine cowling full of atomised fuel, with the resulting side effects you'd expect

Since my motor is only 2 months old you can guess that I am not impressed with having the boat out of the water for a month

Matthew

That's a bit of a shocker Matt, no wonder your annoyed and rightly so, how can they not have parts for a brand new engine?

If it does catch fire make sure you retain the ashes, there's 11 Aussies over here who are losing theirs

While I wont be upset to see Australia lose, it would be good for cricket in both countries, my old pa used to say something about Chickens, hatchings and eggs

But I will keep it in mind for the day my boat turns into a screaming fire ball

Spot on Mathew, note I didn't have the guts to say 'lost' only 'losing'
Best of luck with the engine
