Evinrude Direct injection 150

Was having a look at one of these today.

Are these any good? I've heard about Fitch's and wondered if this was based on the same design or an early Etec.

DI is a rebadged FICHT, based on the same principles. Evinrude/OMC/Bombardier/ Jets Marivent, or whatever they called themselves at the time had to carry out a bit of hasty re-marketing after the notorious early FICHT motors fell apart, so the DI came into being.
I'm told that post 2002 FICHTs are ok, but the earlier ones are a bit dodgy.

Had a 150 Fight (1998) before with a lot of trouble. Electronics broke down, caused by overheating.
Now I have a 250 DI (2004) and it's a different design. Electronics are placed at the back instead of the top where it's not as hot. And the cooling system has changed.
The engine itself (pistons, cilinders, etc.) is the same.
I'm very pleased with it. Lots of torque and good on fuel.
