engine support

Hi All
Do any of you find it useful to have a transom engine to trailer support when towing your sib with the engine on?

I have a 15hp engine on a 3.65m sib.

like this sort of thing.

100% YES, if you travel very far from home.

Another yes here, and something like that transom saver in your link will be ideal.

I have always used a transom saver on my boats that have outboards. Fairly common for a trailer to have a roller in the middle, and they do make another type of transom saver that goes over the roller. Point being there are many types of mounts available to the trailer, but the outboard side really doesn't change.

And another yes from me. Very easy to knock one together yourself (I nicked the design from chipko)
If I get a chance I'll take a picture tomorrow.
I wouldn't trailer a sib with an ob on the back without a transom saver fitted.

Hi Bobby, I managed to get a couple of pics this morning of the transom saver I made.
Cost was minimal as I had the treated 3x2 in stock and the screws cost pennies. I personally wouldn't make if out of anything other than cheap cls/scant as it takes a bit of abuse and the softwood appears to be a bit forgiving.
I wouldn't travel any distance without a transom saver fitted.

Hi Steve
I have not from them yet. I will contact them tomorrow.

I have been busy doing the RYA power boat 2 course.
Well worth doing as well.
I think everyone should do it.
I learned a lot of very useful information.
