Engine servicing costs, Yamaha F100

Hi, I've recently bought my current rib and it came with 2 Yamaha F100 engines. I was told they had been serviced, but I was told a lot of things that weren't neccesarily correct.

I was talking to a mate that took his to a local service centre and his bill gradually climbed to £1300 for ONE engine, he told them to stuff it and bought a new engine from them instead.

A local mobile guy quoted me £500 the pair but has never got back to me, I've left messages but no response.

What should I be paying?

Using a pukka Yamaha agent , I think my typical annual service is approx £200/250 . At about 5 years old , we did have a big bill of over £700 but that included a replacement cam belt and I believe some tilt & trim hardware replacement as well . I could probably give you more accurate figures when I get home and check the bills . I guess there are services and major overhauls ?

My motor (150DI) is being serviced today and I've told them to replace everything except the main fuel filter, I suspect that it'll be somewhere in the £250 region depending on what they find.

I'll let you know how much it is later.

200 hr service on my F115 was $360 US.

That included such perks as a slow oil leak from an untightened drain plug, and a shredded trailer wiring harness. Nothing like spending money to make more work.

I used to pay less than £250 for a standard service F100.

Just as mystifed as me Chris. The only alarm code found was for overheating when I was flushing with some crap muffs I had, these are now in a land fill site somewhere

I'm out tomorrow afternoon fishing for Bass, so there'll be some fast and slow running of the engine. We'll see if it happens again! I'm also putting my larger prop back on to see if I've gained any speed though the engine loosening up as revs have risen slightly over the last 6 outings and is now above 5000 for the first time.

I watched the guy do most of it;

Oil change, engine and gearbox. Oil filter changed.

Thermostat removal and greasing

Propellor removal and greasing.

Removal and greasing of various bolts around head.

Greasing of various linkages, steering, etc.

Took just over one hour.

That's a lot cheaper than the local Yamaha agent!!

I'll go and see him and tell him I'll pay £250 max.

Thanks all.
