Control Cables

Hi all,

I'm going to replace my elderly control cables that happen to be too long. Is there any advice about how much slack I need to allow for at the engine end

Thanks,

Barry

Hi, If you use decent cables (Teleflex Extreme are IMO the best cables for a rib) then you need to have enough slack at the back to allow the engine to go full lock without pulling the cables at all where they come out the the engine (see pic). In the old days you were supposed to have a 1 foot diameter loop but with modern cables that no longer required.

Hi

you need to measure making sure any bend is more than 90% + 1 foot as a basic guide. Feel free to call us and we can though your options and post them out.

number is below

Thanks guys,

I have ordered some new cables, I looked at it as if I were replacing a motorbike control cable as I guess the pinching problems are the same. Gone down a foot in length which combined with moving the front of the console forward 4" will make up most of the 18" I needed to lose.

Thanks again,

Barry
