Many thanks for your contribution.

I visited Simon at their workshop pre lock down and bought a new 50HP Tohatsu. When the engine was delivered and unpacked there were a few small paint chips, which was annoying, spoke to Simon and he offered to swap the engine straight away. Given my wife always tells me I am too picky and I hadn't exactly okayed said purchase with her, I decided to ask for a can off touch up paint which Simon supplied. Still not fitted the engine, so whether it runs or not I have no idea, but it definitely looks like a new engine.

But going back to Simon, he was more than happy to give me a tour around his workshop, front of the building may look a little tatty, but inside the workshop is clean and tidy with good number of staff working away on lots of different engines. Yes he has a spray shop and makes no secret of it, there was 50HP short shaft ex rnli being brought back to is original glory and another done and ready for sale, at a price that nearly made me give him the new Tohatsu back.

Only one experience and yes I have also noticed the ebay postings, but at the end of the day your only wasting a call and you never know he might have something else you want.

For ballance, I would like to share my experience with Higham Marine.

I bought a new small rib and engine from Higham Marine last autumn. They did a great deal for me and set everything up including a couple of mods. That was trickier than expected, but they didn't charge any extra. They even helped me get the boat home where I had had a bit of a planning failure.

I have subsequently had my other engine serviced there, where they sorted out an intermittent starting issue with it.

The service I have received has been excellent on both occasions. The guys are really friendly and helpful. I appreciate that others have had a bad experience and that can happen with any business, however, from my own experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

I tried, but the phone didn't get answered.

But, I did only try once, so not fair to say that's normal for them.

I brought the parts I needed elsewhere.

Nasher.

To be fair, I used them back in 2009 when I was looking for a power head to replace one that had broken a con rod on a johnson 70 2 stroke. (Dont ask)

Bill & simon came good with an ex RNLI short engine that still had an RNLI label attached with the engine hours and compressions.

The price was very fair and they also included some ancillaries in the price.

Yes, I would shop there again.

Feedback about Bill Higham vary's considerably GPS Guru, thanks for sharing your experience.

Reading Simon's earlier description of how many inquiries they deal with, I wonder whether they allow enough time to take care of the detail for every customer and inevitably a few receive less than satisfactory service.
