20" Transom - Long or Extra Long Shaft

Evening All,

I will soon be looking for an outboard engine for my 6m humber destroyer. The transom height of my boat is 20" so I assume I should be looking at a long shaft outboard engine. However as engines are in short supply I was wondering if it was possible to fit and extra long shaft (25") outboard engine to my project?

Thanks

Gareth

I take it the transom has a cut away to accommodate the 'long' leg well if your going for 'xl' you will have to build up your transom so the cav plate is in the right place. If your not handy you would have to get it professionallly done as it has to be strong enough to take the pressures!
Wish you luck
J
