Can I store a 15hp Yamaha 2 stroke upside down?

No... any (even small) amount of water in the exhaust could find its way into the engine.

2-strokes are forgiving, just not that forgiving!
Engine needs to be higher than leg, but that said can be transported flat. Ideally build yourself an outboard stand and get the thing mounted.

Ok thanks for the advise.
It is going in a yacht locker so a stand might be difficult but will try keep it vertical as best I can.
