1988 Mercury 135hp v6 Problems after winter

Hi, has anyone done a DIY job on carbs after the winter, I've changed the plugs, filters plus impellor, just gone to try the motor after the winter months, she will run at a high throttle but soon as you engage drive or reduce the rpm it will splutter and die.

I have just noticed that fuel is dripping from the bottom of the carbs at a steady rate, could it be sticking floats etc. or am I best leaving it to a garage to sort. The motor is a 1988 model so I am happy to take it apart if this is a common problem after no use over winter, I must add that it was going well last year when last used. Any tips welcome thanks

sounds like sticking floats, or just as likely that the part that presses on the needle valve needs a little tweak, so that the float presses harder on the needle.

Maybe carb needle valves or floats are sticking, try tapping carb float chambers with screwdriver handle or something, to dislodge them.
