Strange repair patch.

Hello all. I have a 5.5m Excel SIB and exactly opposite to each other there are 2 patches halfway along the tubes. The one patch sprung a leak and upon opening it to effect a repair i noticed another 3mm thick material in the hole. I am not sure if these 2 patches are coincidently opposite each other or if they are special reinforced patches for some reason.

I attach a photo.

Thanks Luke

It may also be that the internal baffles have failed between the chambers & someone has removed the valves from the adjacent chambers & combined the chambers. Without seeing the whole boat & knowing the spec, it’s hard to tell.

Thanks Dave it appears as though that is exactly what has happened. I doubt if anyone here in Cyprus can repair the baffles and guess that I would only have a problem if caught out at sea with a major leak.

Thanks for the help.

Hello all, following my post on the 'strange patch' situation I wondered if anyone has thoughts on how dangerous it could be if the crafts internal baffles have gone and if there is a emergency repair patch and solution on the market in the event of a problem out at sea?
