RIBnet on-line chat
It's something that has been requested a few times, but until now I haven't done anything about it. Rather than try one of the stand alone chat programs, I have set up a RIBnet channel on a public IRC server to see how much (if any!) interest there is.
If you want to give it a try you'll need an IRC client program. There are loads out there, and I am using IceChat www.icechat.net which is free.
IRC server: irc.mixxnet.net
Channel: #ribnet
Any IRC whizz kids out there?
John

DJL was first RIBnetter to make it onto #ribnet, followed by Ribald and Louise. We were joined by alex323 from the mixxnet staff who was very friendly, and keen to help a bunch of clueless IRC newbies.
He seemed surprised to find that we live in the real world though:
[23:12] <alex323> What's RIBnet?
[23:13] <DJL> its a website, well forum - www.rib.net/forum
[23:14] <alex323> ahh
[23:14] <alex323> is RIB a 3D gaming thing?
[23:15] <DJL> nope, RIB = Rigid Inflatable Boat. Basically a boat with tubes round it.
[23:15] <alex323> in real life?
[23:15] <DJL> yep

We've had a couple more people on tonight: Ribald, Louise, Alex Brown & Jimbo so far. Any more takers?

Today saw us joined by Benc (who turns out to be an IRC guru!), Slimtim (albeit briefly) and Richard B.
This thing might just catch on!

I didn't know what I was doing either but you pick up the basics really easily. Come back and try again!

Been chatting to Matt, SlimTim and Ribald since you signed off JK.
BTW, any chance you could change the name of it to 'Blue Ice' chat? Since Rich & I will probably be some of its heaviest users! (No jokes about my svelte figure boys!)

Have you considered actually talking to each other?

Give it a couple of hundred years and I reckon evolution will have sealed up our mouths and given us super strong fingers (and about 50 extra ones so one finger for every key and no more Mavis Beacon!).

Yeh, I wondered that. They're sitting next to each other on the sofa, but chatting via the internet. At least when I e-mail Vicki, she's usually in the next room.

Get it right Matt! I told you: I was lying on the sofa and Richard was sitting at my feet. He knows his place!

Yes! made it last night, although I was a little surprised to see Louise dressed all in leather and Richard wearing nothing but a nappy. PS The channel isn't called Ribnet its 'Kinky kate's Fetish forum'. That is right, isn't it?
