Two points:

Please can we have the "top of page" button back where it was before? I know it is still there in the corner, but I preferred its old position.

Please could we have the boat details back under each username.

Not too fussed about the exact location of the top of page button (fussy git) but user's boat details was quite handy, people often start talking about "the boat" so it's handy to know what exactly they're going on about

Aren't you supposed to be on honeymoon in SA right now? Losing brownie points rapidly here

Can you believe it, no running water, hardly any electricity, but mobile phone masts everywhere! Get a better signal here than the north coast of Jersey

Just waiting for dinner in our Tanzania lodge, so thought that $4 to catch up on what's happening in the real world didn't seem too bad (using a very slow pc). Guards are outside to keep us safe from all the lions, leopards, wildebeest and zebra roaming around out there looking for their own dinner. We'll be needing a new forum for holiday snaps at the rate we're taking photos.

One other thing: surely it makes sense for the "community forums" to be below the RIB ones. Seeing as they are supposed to be the main content of the site.

It may only be me but it has been my impression over the years that JK tried to stay away from having too many different sections and all the glitzy bits. I accept that it may be part and parcel of joining the "social knowledge" group, however some of the "improvements" do seem to be a little superfluous, potential detractors in fact from the main sections?

Possibly - but for new members trying to get help with their first issues or having trouble navigating the forum this section is invaluable. We just set up an intro forum in the community section as well after seeing a bunch of newbie posts in various other sections that went unanswered. They easily get lost and it can be very for a first time poster to get no response...

For the most part, regular members will just scroll past the new bits at the top. Did you know you can even close a category?

Click on the tiny arrow over to the top right of the category to minimize it

Very Pretty.

What we need now are some new "skins". I'd like one that has no RIBnet logo (especially now that Bill Oddie is on it). In fact, I'd like it to look/function like an email client, making it Safe For Work. That way I could get more done, posting I mean, not work. Obviously

Why stop there though? Customised Skins for RIBnetters. Biffer would approve - his could look exactly like the old RIBnet. Bigwuss would presumably want his to look like the next version. Nasher's might look like posts quickly sketched on the back of old HMRC envelopes. Polwart's could appear to run in Debugging Mode, and flash up all the rude bits for removal. If Martini ordered one, it would probably be black text on a black background, but it would be visible with IR goggles. Gotchi's might automatically post replies exploiting the Three Degrees of Separation that link any random post with Ospreys in two steps. Or one. Channel Rib's would be just as good as everyone else's but cost a fraction less, before tax.

It Looks far better. The site did look pretty basic and very, made from a template before. 10/10

Also good regarding ease for newer users/boaters.

Boat details useful below name too.

I think a weekly or monthly nominated pic at the top could be good. Might get bored of avocet! People post a pic in a separate section and whoever gets the most votes gets put up. May encourage site use!

Grumpy now

OK, all of this hilarity aside, one of my less wordy posts was just now rejected as it was less than five characters (Please lengthen your message to at least 5 characters)

This is just silly. I can say a lot in less than five characters
