None of you, me, us, them would be talking like this if we were stood next to each other in a pub, we would be having a beer and a chuckle together, thats the curse of the internet and human nature and the fact that we as humans when we communicate the actual physical and mental means of communication relies far too heavily on body language, tone, facial impression, sound of voice to determin what someone is saying than the actual words. Hence we are not good at communicating with only the words displayed before us.

Its an interesting subject, and why forums on the internet and email communications are not ideal to social beings like ourselves.

I suppose it's 'old' opinions.

Surely circumstances change/ technology moves on. People gain more experience.

If we all just did what the very first person posted on 'Best winter gloves' we'd all be using marigolds and whatever you nan knitted you for Xmas..!

I say discuss....

Otherwise this place will get a little boring/stale.?

You will never get a pair of decent gloves to many seems in them stick to the marigolds and tech doesn't advance so much in 3 to 6 month

..AND THIS IS EXACTLY THE REASON WHY PEOPLE POST WITHOUT USING THE SEARCH..!

Sorry to shout.

People want your opinion, your experience and your input.(well us 'newbies do)

Would the search engine of picked that up Mick.?

Personally, I like the interaction with the more experienced members.

To 'fine tune' my requirements.

I don't want to have to trawl through hundreds of previous posts trying to find out what I want.

I do though.!!

Ribnet has been excellent for me but I do sit in the corner 'lurking' as I'm often afraid to ask a question in case I get shot down.

I'm sorry that you feel that. I really don't think that anyone asking a genuine question should be worried about posting. The worst that is likely to happen is that someone might suggest that you have a look at a previous discussion.

My top tip for getting a good response on any forum is to put a bit of legwork in, rather than to expect other people to do all the work for you. Read up first, then ask a specific question if you don't find the answer.

Instead of "Does anyone use a tracker on their rib or outboard? Any recommendations?" it would have been better to have a look first and then post something like "I'm interested in getting a tracker and have read quite a lot here already, but wondered whether anyone has some more up to date recommendations?".

Even so the OP hardly got "shot down" and if anyone has any examples of people asking questions and getting a genuinely rude response please let me know, either here or by PM.

I was on the end of a similarly rude response from Admin to an honest error by me, funnily enough though it got removed.

If it were any other member it would have stayed. So Admin basically do what they want! I'd not bother wasting your time debating it.

what about Jeepster? he had plenty rude responses to some of his questions.

I thought the idea of a wooden boat trailer was fantastic

It pays to do an update with a new thread from time to time as technology jumps so quickly.

I will admit to being rude to Jeepster. Restrained in the circumstances, but rude nonetheless.

Now I lived in the midlands for a brief spell, and I established you were a somewhat eccentric bunch with a peculiar taste for warm flat beer - but I never saw anyone drinking it wearing gloves...

No, it wouldn't actually.
