Mariner engine

Hi guys hope you are all ok I have a mariner engine which I was thinking of putting on a sib the problem is how ever my shaft length is 18 inches or so and I don’t know what sib my motor would be comparable with I was thinking about getting a quicksilver 420, thanks

That'll be an ex rnli special length 18" shaft, neither long nor short(standard) personally I'd look at longshaft boats & be prepared to cut an inch or two out of the transom , you can often run quite high so worth a try without cutting but realistically you start to have ventilation problems after lifting the av plate over 1.5-2" above keel line .

ThanKyou very much I thought this would be the case I am trying to get hold of the dealership to see if they can give me the exact transom height before I buy one as on the website it’s state it as it needs a long shaft hopefully it shouldn’t be to much of a problem are these rnli 18”outboards quite common ? If so what do they tend to get used on ?

Some sibs have quite short transoms for their qouted size so you might get away with it if your lucky
Think they came off the d class boats & yes a fair few about

I spoke to the dealership they said a seapro 420 would be the better option, if these 18inch shaft motored are quite common what are people using them on ?
