Insurance for coded ribs on moorings

I have several ribs which are all coded 4.5m and 6.5m live on their trailers so insurance is straight forward. We now have an 8.4m avon which we intended on keeping on a mooring, one insurance company said we can insure it for commercial work but not on a mooring the other insurance company said we can insure it for a mooring but not for comercial work.

Does anyone know of a insurance company that will insure for both at a reasonable rate.

Many thanks

I have been searching around for commercal insurance over the past few week. Basically for another boat to do charter work (11m and 12+2). Tried all the usual and also went to our current insurance broker Bristol Channel Marine (Tony Burris). He searched 6 companies, including putting different aspects of the risk with various companies and the best he's got is 1.1% of current boat value....the highest was 2.3%
All in all its a pain in the arse!!

I doubt if

Portcawl won't be able to help you in this matter as they don't go far down the commercial road, If Bristol channel can't do it then it's gonna be a problem.

Have a look at one of the companies advertising in Lloyds List

I wonder if we should start up a Rib version of a P and I club

Porthcawl do a fair bit of commercial work and their policy is underwritten by Norwhich Union. They are recomended as good brokers.

We use Knighthood which is underwritten by the very long established maritime group of Sunderland Marine . We use Knighthood as they can offer £10m liability on a small PAX plus slipway/crew laibilities in one package.

These are the only 2 companies that we recomend to our cusomers.

Cheers

John
