How To Get Your 1st Start?

Hi everyone.

Just finished Yacht Master theory this week and doing STCW 95 next week down in Cowes. Already have 1st aid, VHF, radar and sea survival.

Been calling the commercial companies today, mainly the ones doing the wind farm transfers, and its the same this time of year, no ones taking on crew until the spring.

Can any of you more experienced guys point me in the right direction where I might get work this time of year doing some crewing. Not restricted to a certain area or type of work, as long as its paid work. Also, not fixed on the type of work. Commercial, offshore, inshore, charter etc. Been doing the day charters overseas for a few years so I've got a bit of experience with that.

Any advise welcomed and thanks in advice.

Stephen

Have found myself in a similar situation. Spent this year working as a deckhand for various companies as required filling in for absentees etc. Just passed Yachtmaster Offshore power practical exam last week and am now looking for something regular.
