Coding question ?

We currently have a rib that has previously been coded but this has been expired for a number of years. We would like to get the rib recoded, but have no information regards previous coding or any information on the rib itself, I have been in contact with the builder, but as it was a bespoke design they do not hold any information on it.

Will this be a problem when it comes to recoding? & will it cost more as no relevant information is held on the rib ?

Cheers

You might try contacting the coding companies, mecal is one, a surveyor will know the rest, in my dealings with them I think you will have to start again, I will warn you that i have a bespoke RIB and it took for ever to get mine done, the experience was not nice

If just operating in the Solent, local area coding would be a lot simpler and cheaper - depending on which authority you go through you don't need to supply any stability/build info. A survey may be required to accompany the paperwork if the hull is older than 10 years old but this is very basic. That and a one hour inspection of the craft and safety equipment, and then you get your "ticket".
