Legally?

If you have kids in school at the moment, I believe that you can get it at educational price.

I think £225 is typical internet price, for the full product, or £149 educational, but I suspect that if you're using it for business, then that might be outside the T&Cs of th eeducational license.

Look at Amazon.co.uk for a starter... then try a bit of Google-ing

If you're in the market for a new PC as well, there are deals that bundle office at a sensible price. Could be a sledgehammer to crack a nut of course!

Do you REALLY need Access??? - lot cheaper to buy without that - you could buy an older version - usually still compatible.

Buy an iMac and it will come loaded with the best OS currently available, OS X Tiger.

And yes it supports all the popular Microsoft formats!!!

Have given it to a few of our clients who are very happy with it - remember it's FREE!!!

In a related question...

Do I need to buy a second copy of Office to put it on my Laptop, or can I use the existing software on both that and the Desktop? I've been told that you can have it on up to 3 machines if you own them - but not sure if this is right or not.

Whenever I boot-up Word on the second machine, it asks me to register - and when I do it says that it already is and I need to ring Microsoft. So before I do that.........

Dylan...

Do you mean register or activate?

You don't HAVE to register with Microsoft if you don't want to. However you must activate the software. If it's already been activated on another machine it might be funny about letting you do it on a second (although it can work sometimes ie. Outlook on my machines(s)).

I mean activate - and it is being funny!!

It looks like it is a licence per machine - so I will take the opportunity to explore Cod's alternative OpenSource stuff rather than line Microsoft's pockets further......

Of course there are unscrupulous methods out there that will allow you to install it on a second machine….
