Weather forecasts.....!

Where does everyone get an accurate forecast from (assuming that's not a contradiction in terms).

I'm planning to be out around Cowes on June 2nd:

Metcheck says: 9 degrees C and cloudy

Accuweather says: 21 degrees C and sunny.

Maybe it's too far ahead for a decent forecast....

This is a site we use regularly for The Solent, but it is only a five day one so maybe need to wait a couple of days, useful anyway

Maybe, if it's the Brooklyn Bridge.

www.yr.no

I have been using this site recently and find it very good. The "Advanced Map" shows currents, wave heights and suchlike. The site really repays a bit of study, as there is so much info in it. The visual displays are excellent, and really give you a handle on what the coming days will be like.

I don't think any forecast can be expected to perform well more than 72 hours ahead, if that.

Thanks Ian and Willk - two new sites for me to bookmark, they both look better than my current selection!

I particularly like yr.no - very interesting.

It's cool. The 48 hour display is Genious (below), showing all variables over time.
The data seems to be streaming from the various National Met Offices, you can enter any location (town, hill, headland or bay) and the software extrapolates a forecast. I find the forecasts are very reliable over a 48 hour period. Let's see what the "Wighties" say over the next 48hrs ;-)

I'm not sure about that. I think we have several members who are very highly cultured.

A bit like botulism.

Unlike Australia, if you leave yoghurt for long enough, it'll form a culture.
