Voip

Skype or Windows Live Messenger?

Anyone have any experience?

I'm poised to buy either a Skype 'phone http://www.consumer.philips.com/cons...CSHP3HKFSESI5P or a WLM 'phone http://www.consumer.philips.com/cons...CSHP3HKFSESI5P but I wonder what direction this technology will go, and is there a difference in call quality beween the two?

Neither.

Sign up to VoipTalk, buy their little adaptor, http://www.voiptalk.org/products/Analogue+VoIP+Adaptors, then use a normal phone. Far more convenient, and I've found their service first rate.

Send a message via Skype™ to Limey Linda
Have used Skype for 6 months now. I make a lot of international calls. Outstanding quality and service. Skype to Skype worldwide is free. Skype to landline cost me $0.21 per min. to UK. Put $10.00 on the account ( $30..00 fee per year and includes free long distance calls within US and Canada) in Jan. and have not used it up yet. If contact is not on line then I make a 1 min. landline call telling them to fire up their computer and call me back for free. Includes free video if you buy a $35.00 CAM. which plugs into USB. You need a headset to elliminate feedback/echo that will result from speakers feeding back into the mic.
Hope this helps
T.

I just got a free phillips VOIP phone with the laptop I just bought. I haven't had a chance to get it all out yet but on the box it only mentions windows messenger, does that mean I can't use it with skype? Or can the phones be used with any VOIP software?

Sorry for the thread hijack

Don't know. Why not try it. Just download skype for free and try giving me a call. Skype : tonylindajake. If I do not answer that is because i am having a nap. if it rings then it is working and I will get a message and call you back.

My mate uses Skype over the net to my mobile, cheap and good quality, Ill ask him more details about it tonight, I found perhaps there is ever so such a tiny delay in him answering my questions or hearing my responses, not so much its impossible though, I'll be in touch
