Tow bar winches

You know those tow bar winches you can buy for about £70.00, are they any good. I'm thinking of getting one for my "jeep" and having it handy for the once a year opportunity of pulling someone out of the sand. Any thoughts....like where to get em cheap (God I have being a cheap-skate scouser) or where to source something a bit better at about the same £$£$ (God there I go again beoing a penny pinching scouser).

I don't know how well they work but it's a good fashion accessory and they do come with a handle is the going gets tough

Imho.........

Yer pays £70 and you get ......... as Rogue says......... a fashion accessory.

Try to pull someone out of the sand and you will also get a strong burning smell.

Spend 10 times that and you will get a useful tool not a toy, and you will easily be able to drag yourself towards the stuck vehicle.
Now get some ground anchors, strops and you might shift it.

Daniel is flogging a decent winch. I am not sure if it's surrounded by a range rover or not at the moment

Thanks Graham.......

money well spent. I've spent the week wire brushing it, painting it with Hemmerite and rewireing it to suit the Jeep and generally messing about winching things from here to there (the dog is getting really pissed off with me). Anyway, cheers mate, if you and your "Big Yellow Tonka Toy" ever need a pull, just call.

how is the pricing for a superwinch in the UK, I really would like the 4500, I think the 8000 is a little to big for me
I don't own a hummer (yet)
