I went to the live show in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago, and liked it, which inspired me to start watching the show again, but I agree with the sentiments, still gave me a good laugh, but it does need a format change. Clarkson hates all the PC/HSE overkill , so the show is a bit tongue in cheek on that regard. I wouldn't be too keen doing 40mph on that ski without a PFD though !

*edit* fek me the show was expensive

I have done quite a bit of work on water as a commercial skipper for BBC, the other side(s) and film, the requirements are very restrictive and you can bet all of the crew were wearing appropriate safety kit and if you can bear to watch it again you will see a boat close by at all times (it was the same one over two days), the exception is always "The talent" which in this case would include JC so whether you like it or not he probably wasn't even breaking BBC H and S rules.

I seem to be in the minority in that I look forward to Top Gear!

Minority of 3 - I still enjoy it. The bit on the military vehicles in Afghanistan was interesting. Wish they would go back to spending some time testing normal cars that viewers might actually buy!

I don't think there's just 2 based on the number of people that watched it. Problem is, people look forward to it, but want it improved.

Agree thats how they sell themselves, producers comments recently said it was like having kids on show each week, thats what they aim at, and for me I love it

Agree no helmet then no PFD -Twit
But then how many jet skiers wear jeans - Twit*2

TopGear is now light entertainment rather than a car show. Take it for what it is now - One if the BBCs biggest exports. Its a sit com about cars.

For real info about the cars we drive look on you tube for car buyer.

What's the opinion of the Ribnet jury?
Is there a link with more details as considering going into semi retirement next year and working as a freelance Instructor and sounds like it could be an ideal mode of transport across the Solent for work on the mainland.

I think that's brilliant. Though a uk "looking" version would be good.

As for JC not wearing a PFD, he wouldn't need one with all that blubber, still not a good example though.
It is reckoned that the P1 hasn't quite beaten the 918's time of 6.57 around the Nordschleife.. It will be very interesting to see which is faster around the TG test track. The greater weight of the 918 and its slight power deficiency will count against it but then its four wheel drive will give it better traction around what is a tight handling track (designed by Lotus).

BTW if anyone googles articles about the 918 bear in mind porsche has recently revised its performance figures significantly, it was projected to be well off the pace to 124mph but its time has been revised to be over 2 seconds faster than expected.

Quadski is very cool, the Gibbs Humdinga is exactly what some towns around the country need right now!!

I do agree about the show being formulaic and boring, though I still find it required watching. The older ones are far superior in content and originality.

It just shows how much of an entertainment show it is when Hammond never really examines the Alfa subjectively. It hasn't had the warmest of receptions in the serious motoring press by any means.
