Possibly one of the most perceptive comments ever to appear on Ribnet - well said that man. In Essex they are inevitably sported by the owners of skip-hire companies or wine bars and otherwise feature prominently on BMW X5's, BMW 3-Series, BMW 5-Series, and BMW 7-Series. Can you imagine the inner angst of those sad inadequates who actually think people give a flying fcuk how old their car is, what their obscure christian name is or how many cc's and horsepower their chavmobile has got?

ps. can somebody let me know if they see V8 TVR or RR4.4V8 for sale

glad to see people are as tolerant as ever...although I guess that having differing views on things makes this country that much more interesting and diverse...

Why do male baboons run around showing their shiny red arses to each other?

Because they are not eligible to buy into DVLAs personalised plate scheme...

And that's about the size of it. Hands up, who is annoyed by personalised number plates and why....

Discuss.

PS the only reason why I'm an anti is purely because driving indiscretions are all the more memorable to a witness.

No, you must be mistaken, Tim, mine's Adriatic Blue

And having viciously slagged off people with personal plates, I now find to my horror that three of the forum's finest chaps, namely Richard B (lots of self-esteem and very adequate), Jono (used to own a skip-hire company but extremely cultured) and Jono Garton (well, OK, there's always one exception) all have them. Errr, sorry, chaps

Can't understand in the UK all this about having a personal number plate - The only number plates I would like - and they don't seem to supply them are the ones you cannot trace ....!!

Phil, I know you are the only non-chav left in Essex now I've left so perhaps you should stop fighting the inevitable and a) get yer rangey well blinged up wiv some spinner polished alloys, UV neons & well wicked tints and b) get a private plate.

What annoys me about the whole private plate thing is that a lot of them will ONLY spell out what they claim with illegal spacing and characters etc. The Police are quick enough to prosecute people for doing this and yet the DVLA actually encourage it in their ads for private plates!!!

Viz Top Tip

This was in Viz years ago

" Instead of shelling loads of cash for personalized plates merely change your name by deed poll to match that of your present vehicle"
