Yes. They recently were tasked here to assist with a crash during a Rally where the car went over a cliff to the waters edge. They were seen as the agency most likely to reach the casualty first, including the SAR helo.

http://www.facebook.com/rnli/ is the facebook link

Facebook and twitter have there uses, and the RNLI, RNLI Kinghorn, RNLI Queensferry use it very effectively, Quite sure other stations out there that do the same.

My 1st thoughts reading the article were concerning the possible sleeping arrangements of Messrs Williams, Jackson and the latters wife, given that they all woke at the same time (05.30)

But on reading that Mr. Williams is a well respected Ribnet member I'll assume there is a perfectly reasonable explanation

I think I need to get laid...

Ps good job well done

well done phil ,and its nice that you got some recognition in the press .
when the boeing 737 passenger jet crashed onto the m1 motorway at kegworth in 1989 the first people on the crash scene was a passing lifeboat crew in a mini bus that had been to poole on a training course ,think they were withernsea crew ,,even though they were first on the scene going into the aircraft administring first aid and freeing many of the trapped passengers long before any of the emergency services arrived very little was said about them in the news and it was the emergency services that took all the credit .

I think the RNLI is trying to make people more aware of that we don't just use our training when on RNLI boats.
Like you said about the plane crash, been local we arrived first and were able to call the local doctor who is also our HMA to assist.
