Recommend me a cottage in Scotland

Somewhere for the two of us to go for a week next Summer, with our SIB.

On the edge of a Loch where we can launch easily and not too near a busy main road!

Last year we stayed at Loch Linnhe Lodges which was superb, the only downside being the busy main road behind it, where the trucks woke us at 5.30am every morning.

Also we'd prefer somewhere under 10 miles from a town or village, such as Fort Augustus or similar.

Anybody been to somewhere they can recommend? We are currently looking at a cottage in Connel, near to Oban.

Resipole Farm on Loch Sunart is great for launching with lots of places to visit and wildlife to see. Although it may be a bit off the beaten track for you. Nearest villages are Salen, Acharacle and Strontian and the cost of fuel at Strontian is what you will be paying in England in 10 years time!

Does the Caravan site at Loch Sween not have a few cabins round the other side of the peninsula?

No main roads there!

Loch Eil is at the bottom of the drive, Rhum, Eigg and Skye all do-able from Mallaig which is half an hour along the road.

We are 3 or 4 mins for Linnhe Holiday park but its peaceful.

No Ralph. They are private. Leachive caravan site have small igloo log rolls you'll see the on utube. But castle Sween has lodges at Ellary in loch Coalport that are for let that have a website under Ellary.
