Pompey Harbour

Plans for the new football stadium are in the harbour

http://www.ybw.com/auto/newsdesk/200...27mbmnews.html

Could be some charter boat work as safety boats for this

Not a bad idea.

They could always pump it full of water and use it for the swimming competitions at the 2012 Olympics!!!

Save some of the build cost. I'll e-mail Seb now!!!

You think Portsmouth will be able to build that by 2012 !

Remember that itsy bitsy little Tower that was 6 years too late. Built for a once in a lifetime occasion and managed to miss it.

Don't like it. The habour wouldn't be the same IMHO. It would also take away the view of HMS Victory wouldnt it?

What about the appalling traffic that's already in Portsmouth. As was suggested earlier might be some good business for water Taxis. From a quiet beach many miles away.

Personally I can never understand why stadiums aren't built next to motorways.

A very good point!

The daily traffic in Pompey is already a nightmare. But the successes of the Pompey Team have done a lot for general morale so an upgrade was inevitable perhaps.

Well, it would be nice if they moved the foodball traffic away from it's current location. I live within shooting distance of the stadium and it's a nightmare parking when theres a match on. Don't like the harbour idea though!

I used live in queens street back in 2001 with my mates for a few years and parking was a nightmare at the best of times, then gunwharf got built and it got worse as so many peeps object to stupidly high underground car park charges, I live in fratton anyway abd traffic is nightmare, I dont use my car when theres a game as its pointless - get the bike out! I think it would be a bad move personally and agree with what tim said about the harbour not being the same, my grandad worked years ago in the old dockyard putting massive rivets in to ships,HMS Vernon I think was called - I personally wouldnt like to see that area change any more than what it already has - but hey thats only my opinion -

If that picture is a good likeness, as an outsider I feel that looks absolutely awful. I guess it's supposed to look like a boat but an old discarded barge...? At least the the tower has graceful lines and bit of elegance but it's dwarfed by the proposed construction.

A few years back they proposed to put the stadium at the top end of Eastern Road, between the A27/M27/A3(M) and the railway.

Some stupid bint interviewed on local TV said she was not in favour because "It would be difficult to get there 'cos there aint no public transport."
It still makes me laugh thinking about it.

Personally I think a stadiun about 3 miles south of the Nab Tower would be good as long as all the supporters had to walk there.

Get the builders to put in a couple of decent eyes when they build it and we'll tow the new stadium out there!!
