Is there any mobile service that operates on St. Kilda?

There wasn't any EE when we were there.

Their website ( St Kilda - National Trust for Scotland World Heritage Site ) says...

**The only accommodation on the island for visitors is a small campsite, with room for a maximum of 6 people. Visitors may stay for up to 5 nights. They have shared use of showers and toilets and access to a drinking water supply. Please note that there is no mobile phone reception or Wi-Fi or other internet access available on St. Kilda.**

The info is really well hidden... you have to click on the "Visiting" section then scroll down and it's hidden under "Camping".

We enquired about camping overnight to NT Scotland & were basically told "no chance". When we got there, we spoke to the ranger chap who meets you at the pier & he said we could've camped no problem, unfortunately we hadn't taken our gear, we'd left the tents pitched by the ferry terminal on North Uist.
You can't land from any covered boats (cabins) or any boats with lockers. There's no where to tie up alongside the pier. You either anchor off or pick up a mooring. The moorings are private for the day trip boats, but they are quite accommodating if you talk nicely. Either way, you need a tender.
You have to call up the ranger before landing & they will meet you at the pier & give you a pep talk.

It was just by chance I'd been looking at these old films earlier this year and clicked on the St Kilda website and had a read through re visiting (not in a SIB though!).

This is the direct link to the fairly strict "rules"... St Kilda - National Trust for Scotland World Heritage Site
