Icom ic m31

Found a M31 but it has no base charger and they are over £25. Is there an "alternative" charger or has anyone got one going spare for a few quid?

The m31 suffered from a failing battery. I haven't seen one for sw years with a good origional battery.

The original nicd isn't available and to change to li-ion you need a different charger anyway. RRP for the new battery & charger as a kit £70 odd, we sell about 1 a week on ebay (yes 50 a year).

If you do buy it I'll do you a ribnet price on the kit if you PM me.

As an alternative we have an m31 here with an unpaid repair bill. By total coincidence we told the chap today he's 10 days to pay or we sell it to recoup costs.

I don't really need a base charger I have been informed as it has a pin charger.

I'm 99% sure the m31 can't have anything other than a base / cradle charger.

The m23 is a good radio. I have one myself. I've been thinking of getting an m91 DSC so I'll sell you my own m23 for £100 if interested.

Jesus you'd be better with a cobra. I have a Baofeng. Not for use on boat. Its an OK amateur radio with interesting ability to work on PMR(UHF) and VHF frequencies. It will take you about 6 years to programme the channels in by hand and you may well have worries about typos as you can't easy test... Computer and lead will help but increase cost. I can see a role if you want access to ovt channels and are not concerned that ofcom will knack you if caught either using the private freq or kit not marked for it. Or perhaps as an unofficial shore station which ofcom would also knack you for if caught but there are means and ways...

Oh and you could with some know how use a current regulating buck convertor £3 from China on fleabay, build a replacement then find a charger 12v DC probably acquirable on eBay for sub £10. If u r custom designing you may be able to use 19v laptop one available for £5 off fleabay.

Scraps if wood could make a cradle. I guess someone in the know would do it for under £10. I suspect to do it well you'd be as well 3D printing a cradle and might spend £30 on overall build...
