Help! Unusual Computer Problem

At home I have a stand alone PC and two laptops all on a wireless network. They all work fine and internet connection is 100% except when I want to log on to the Redbay website. The computer defaults to a web page at 27th September 2005. Its the same on all three computers. I have tried resetting Explorer to automatically update sites and look for the most recent page but it wont. If someone sends me a link to new content on the Redbay site the page comes up as unavailable. All other sites are fine.

Anyone any idea why it is only the Redbay site that will not update and any suggestions as to what I can do to correct it.

Yep!
Tried all of that. Every other page loads up to the latest page but not Redbay Boats.

Do you use the PC to build the RedBay site?

It's weird that it's happenning from all the PCs. Does your router have an inbuilt proxy server or cache? Do you have a local web server or DNS server running for some reason?

When the old page loads, does it show the correct URL in the address bar?

Hi Tim,

Have you tried using a laptop on another internet connection? The next time your here you can log unto our network.

The other question is who is your internet provider, by any chance is it UTV? Another customer has had a similar problem. Our site was previously hosted by UTV but their service was awful and it was very expensive so we changed hosts ... that was during October 2005. From talking with the other customer, I came to the conclusion that UTV have held it on a cache on their system, just to be extra awkward to its customers.

The direct link to our site is: http://domain1026518.sites.fasthosts.com/

Try that, it might work! If that doesnt work I can't think of anything else, other than change ISPs!

Guess what, I am with UTV and they are the service provider which would explain why its the same on all computers at home even the laptops. I will ring them this morning and try to get it sorted.

You know how it is Gary, people calling in at home and want to see the new boat.

Did the direct link work?

I'm going to write to UTV today and tell them to sort their act out, anyone having UTV as their ISP will be thinking we haven't built any boats since last year!

I'm at work so testing the link here will not solve the problem but i got through to UTV and they used to host your site and guess when you left them, 27th September 2005, so what did they do, they shut down your site at that date.

they have promised to release the site within 12 hours.

Sue the feckers! I know hundreds of people who wanted to buy a boat but couldnt get onto the site.

Thanks for that. We you consider that we advertise our second hand boats on our site, and also the new webshop, and that a substantial number of potential customers may be on UTV and unable to access these, that does amount to something quite serious on their part...

never mind the amount of time I have spent at home dismantling the network and putting everything back together. Get Zeb to write them one of his scary numbers

Just a thought - in the short term, if you can still remember the server address username and password for the UTV server, from when you used to be hosted with them, try uploading a new home page that tells people if they are seeing the UTV page to click on your new server address.

Had thought of that, we ftpd to ftp.redbayboats.com, I never got a direct server address. I'm almost sure they removed our account access so I can't upload a redirect!

This could be a solution - ask someone who's ISP is UTV to open the command prompt on their machine, and type in "ping www.redbayboats.com". It will then display the IP address they are pinging. You can then try logging in to that!
