Free Adware Software

Could anyone recomend a good free adware spyware removal program please.
Looks like I've picked something up thats causing my programmes to minimse. I have a feeling its something to do with Google killing a pop up. I've tried a couple but no success.

This one should be up Codders street..

had same sort of problem.

http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/se...fwantispy.html

This is a web site I use, and the Spybot - Search and Destroy program I have which is just over half way down that page, seems to work well.

That's spooky cos just as I read your post I got a popup telling me my spyware has just been updated. I use AVG Anti-spyware 7.5. It's free from the Grisoft site and it functions automaticaly for a month, after that you have to use it manually or buy it.

Its got to be a coincidence. I'm using a different PC to the infected one as thats being scanned at the moment with Nick's suggested program.

Trouble is I use Win XP 64 which isn't the best catered for Operating System. But its been trouble free for 18 months as regards viruses so I can't complain too much.

Spyware can be a bitch to remove. You sometimes have to use more than one product.

use

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/...e_personal.php

and spybot as mentioned.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Also use AVG and use Firefox instead of IE.

Sometimes you have to have several goes before the spyware is removed.

yeh, i would also go with, lavasoft adaware and also spybot.

AVG is very good, and would suggest installing Zone Alarm as a firewall as well.

Windows own firewall is fine if set correctly - if you are using a router most of them have a firewall built in - remember 2 firewalls are NOT a good idea!!!

A router is a firewall in its self, and usually has many configurable options that prevent the need for other firewalls.

I scan my machines from time to time, but never find any problems. Also those Antivirus and syware progs can inhibit decent installs for valid software IMHO, and are mostly bloatware for your PC slowing it down unneccissarily. If you've ended up with adware its usually cos you/someone accepted it. Harder to manage when kids are using the PC for sure.

IE7 has tools to manage those though, but I have to say due to fire fox's open source code, its a hell of a good browser, and fast
