Debate time - Navara or Ranger
I'm thinking of buying a new to me truck.
The options are:-
2022 Ranger 2.0 (213 bhp) auto 32k mls
2021 Navara N Guard auto 28k mls
Navara is a couple of grand cheaper.
Real world experience, good or bad (not my brothers wife's auntie had a flat tyre!) of either would be most appreciated. Also anything to be wary of.
Thanks in advance.

Don’t ford do a wet belt engine on the ranger? Not a fan myself if it is. I’m a Mitsubishi man myself put 167000 on my shogun with no probs

Yes it is a wet belt but although I've heard so many bad things about them I've yet to meet someone who's actually had a problem, it's always been 2nd or 3rd hand info.
Call me fickle, but I just don't Ike the styling of the L200 or the Toyota for that matter. My last Navara had 195000 on the clock and this one has done 130000, I only thought about the Ranger as I fancy a change.
I'll probably end up with another Navara, I suppose it's better the devil you know

A friend of mine bought an VW Amarok a few years back - maybe 5? This was the same basic chassis and engine (I think) as the Ranger at the time. Timing failed in the first couple of months of light work. New engine.

Redneck needs a lifted Chevy quad cab dually longbed Duramax making 800hp. Make sure to get a winch in case you get stuck at the mall, and some truck nuts.

New amarok is a ranger with vw badges old amarok is all vw 2.0 twin turbo is surprisingly good, they are a dry timing belt engine which is reasonably reliable belts snap if not changed on time but what catches folk out is if the aux belt tensioner or belt fails it rips the timing belt off killing the engine, answer is to change the aux belt & tensioners at the same time as the main timing belt but it's not in the service schedule a bit more car like than many pickups but not as solid as the hilux.
Toyota would be my first choice.
I'd imagine folk will be hanging onto their current pickups to take advantage of the old tax rules & presumably demand for new vehicles will drop off due to the new rules. I'd imagine residuals will remain strong for a good while, folk not changing to get maximum tax benefit then less new vehicles sold will mean less used available.

I'd love one Peter, but it just wouldn't fit in the church parking bays.

You are right Jeff, but after 22 years of the same thing I just have a hankering for a change.
Diane if you read this, I'm talking about the truck!

Nissan Navara Tekna, Black, 14k miles, very very competitively priced came onto the market at 10.00, it was sold by 12.00

It was a no brainer when I saw it but it was good job I did drive the 2 hours to go to see it straight away, they must have had a least 5 phone enquiries whilst I was there. It would have gone by the end of the day if I hadn't bought it. I think they under priced it by at least £3k - £4k compared to the others I've looked at.
