cheeky scamming bas...

Just found a company, on HelloTrade.com, that has blatantly ripped all my website info, stuck it up on there, changed the address to a PO Box in London and I guess are seeking business.

My company name, photos etc. I've contacted HelloTrade, asking them to remove the listing immediately, but do you think they will?!... I won't hold my breath!

Has anyone else had experience of this sort of thing? Please tell me there was a pleasant outcome!

I have had this 3 time (once from a forum member!). The first thing you need to is issue a "cease and desist" notice, a pro forma of it will be online somewhere to save solicitors fees. In the notice give them 24 hrs to take it down.

Take a few screen shots as well so you have your evidence stored.

Threatening to prosecute HelloTrade is your best bet as they will not want the trouble.

on each occasion i have had the copied material removed quite promtly, last time i hand delivered the notice to the house of the director of the web hosting company as i did not get anywhere with the guy that had actually nicked my site

Thanks for that Sir, most valuable information.

I've had an email from HelloTrade, this morning, informing me that they've removed the listing.

I checked and they have

Pleasantly surprised!

Go talk to Nominet. They arbitrate on these things in the UK. Have used them a couple of times very successfully.

More cheek

Another one

Here is a word for word cut and paste email I have just received this evening from an existing customer

Quote:

Hi Doug,

How are things?

I had a twitter from a company called rh marine training
who seem pretty dodgy.

On a little browse of their website RH Marine Training Home they've got a couple
of your pics on the bottom right of their page in a slideshow box.

Sorry if you already know about this just thought I should let you know
as they don't seem exactly legit......
I dont think he is a Ribnet member, but someone on here may know him. Tried calling but no reply, have emailed and told him to remove stolen images immediately.

The last RYA school we found that had nicked images from our site claimed they had used them accidentally, the one before claimed his web developer had supplied them (web developer denied this and quit the project). I have just emailed this guy, will see what his excuse is.

pm sent Doug, your man James in office may be able to fill in some gaps ref my issues

Here is original questions linked to your problem http://www.rib.net/forum/f19/web-sit...ner-49849.html
After numerous months and RYA, BMF, FSB involvement and finally starting solicitors the changes were made and then followed up in last week or so with changes on Facebook as well as his website.

Seems more common an issue than I realised. I hope your troubles are overcome sooner rather than later.
