Can't believe it's still here - Snow

As the title, I can't remember the snow hanging around for so long before.
We're just not used to it here on the South coast.

It's been 5 days now and here in Clanfield we've had a top up of between 1/2 and 2 inches every night since the initial deposit of over a foot.

These images were taken today, it looks great, me and the smaller Nashers are still enjoying it, and I'm still getting around, but I'm the only one that can get out of our steep road.

We've been told there is no chance of any grit for our road or the road along the top into the village for the next few days at least.

My neighbour mentioned he might need to insulate his loft a bit better some time soon. These are getting a bit dangerous hanging out the back of his house. Sorry for the image quality, was taken on full zoom!

Oh, please remember the birds need something to drink and eat too.

Five days!

White and frozen here since 19th December. Last mile and a bit of the road home has been under 2cm of ice since, homeowners doing the gritting. No break in the freeze within the current forecasting horizon.

Luckily, fingers crossed, will be on the beach sunnin' ourselves from Wednesday...

... so you'll all get peace for a while

Atlantic pressure forecast shows a low tracking our way. If they've got it correct, there'll be warmer winds by midweek. Prepare for floods...
Cool icicles Nasher.

That's just it. What if a sudden warm spell melts the lot in a day. Will be swimming to get the kids to school.

Great pic Nasher

As I said, we're just not used to it here on the sunny south coast.

Spent some of this afternoon towing neighbours cars out to the main road so they can get to work in the morning.

Last snow melted here yesterday, temperature today +11 degrees, yes and I mean +11 degrees little bit of raining but mostly dry.

Nasher, as said earlier on the forum here, have requested for meltdown as I am coming in on Friday although I am used to drive in snow I hate having people skidding, crawling all over the road meaning I canīt go nowhere and I have quite few hundred miles to drive next week

2 ft here and -18 going to work last week. Best part of a month now. We're used to though and ski slopes only 45 minutes drive away.

So, how long did you have to wait before a Landrover turned up to tow you out?

About 3 hours as we had to defrost their washer system first

That would've been a 5 min fuse change. Presumably the other 2hrs 55mins were spent waiting for your front screen to thaw.

Not with your hams, you'd need a 13 year old with nimble fingers to pick up the spare fuse you dropped, then 20 mins to rebuild the glove box

There's a few more fuses in there now. The toys were almost thrown all over the autobahn when trying to perform that operation.

Roads closing here!

Snow has arrived with us again, swirling around and poor vis, but not really sticking as yet....see what happens when temp drops. However the strong winds are causing havoc with the roads. They are being closed as a result of drifts caused by the wind wipping up fallen snow from the fields rather than new snow...although the new stuff won't help. Quite bizarre really...
