Looking for a gas BBQ to use when camping in the Hymer - anyone got any experience of these?

Very popular here in SA but i would advise you buy the paelle pan aswell,
the normal skottel pan is a concave design and eveything tends to slide into the middle, which is a pain in the a..
I am note sure the original version is avaiable in the UK due to H and S.

No, you'll have to shell out more hard earned cash
. (only a few quid) .

I have one of these but it's probably overkill for your purposes.

Maybe a smaller version would do? I use the stove and griddle plate for frying stuff, and the 2-burner BBQ box for grilling/smoking (though it's tough getting it to stay at a low enough temp for long term smoking.)

I've got one and love it! I use it camping and in the garden at home, I generally use the ribbed grill for bbq and when camping put a pan on the side of it if needed.

I also have the paella pan which has seen a few outings I reckon it's big enough to feed 6-8 people but I just feed 2 out of it.

I've never used the skottel so cant comment on that. I think mine cost me about £200 all in as well as a cover and the paella, I got a good price match from go outdoors which basically paid for the cover.

I run mine on calor lite it's on a long pipe with 2 quick release connectors so I can add or remove my cooker or 3 way Fridge as required whilst camping.

Only thing I will say against it can be a pita to clean at times. I boil the griddle in the paella pan when camping and jet wash it when at home!

Any questions ask away

Nick

I would opt for the deluxe version as the lid comes in handy, I'm thinking of getting some table top legs as well as it would be handy for using in the tent awning.
