Bubble and Squeak

Is it just a Northern dish or do you Southerners have it too?

Does any one know what I'm on about?

I do but I hate it.

Funnily enough was chatting to me mate about the north south divide and food. He's in his late 50's and a true cockney, now living in crew. Only have to mention curry on chips from the chippy and he goes mental

On another north/south divide note.
Curry and chips north vs south! Great tasting with or without a few beers.
Banana fritters are north west thing (with syrup) great but watch sweet tooth and calories.
But go further north again and mars bars fritters appear - no thanks! (north south border of Scotland/England)
As for bubble and squeak - good for sunday night supper (using left overs of Sunday lunch), or fried any morning using the previous days left over.

Oh yes, but far from using up the leftovers I've been known to cook extra Veg and Potatoes just to make the B&S next day.

I'm a born and bred Southerner, and wouldn't claim to be anything else, but my Mothers parents came from a long line of Canal boat families, so you can see where I get it from.

Born and bred Southampton. Had b&s all my life and yes, I cook extra veg. just to make it next day. Boxing Day without b&s must be terrible. had open house last boxing day and made a huge pan full. All the Americans and Mexicans loved it. Think I will try a mexican twist on my next batch; a few chilles have got to help.
