BT broadband

So, I want to change from Sky to BT for my broadband. Should be simple yes!

Been on hold for 45 minutes with BT.

Maybe I'm making the wrong choice?

We have been with BT Broadband for about 6yrs... the price is never the cheapest but the service reliability has been fine. But there have been some absolute nightmare customer service issues when we've had contract/billing issues.

So happy to stick with them for now but if I was looking for the best provider as a new customer I might not choose them!

I've been with Virgin fro about 6 years - maybe not the cheapest -c.£40/month fro broadband all 'phone, but speed is great, and service if you need to contact them has been first class.

Don't want TV / sports services, and am put off BT by the universal poor service stories I've heard from friends / colleague who have it.

Hi,

I'm tempted by free BT sport, but to keep a potential new customer on hold for over an hour and then be presented with a message to the effect that they are now closed until tomorrow morning is in my view basically telling me " I can shove my business up my ar#e!".

BT are not really any better than the average providers Ive come across .. bear in mind they have no control over BT openreach which is a separate company., that provides the broadband infrastructure should you have a problem. Ive been using Zen internet for about 8 years ... brilliant service but not the cheapest, I cant get any cable services here like virgin, although I can get fibre to a cabinet near me through Openreach.

The big thing about Zen is they have a very big stick to 'beat' openreach with ... and if there ever is a problem, which is always openreaches fault, its sorted in jig time Even BT cant get openreach to move that fast Ive found

Oh and I should say ZEN dont throttle or traffic shape like Virgin do so your speed is always what it says on the tin

I got sick of BT, crap speed, crap customer service and my bill kept climbing. I've never used such a useless company. On a good day I'd get 0.46meg.

I'm now with a locally run Internet company called Locheilnet. Nearly 50meg download and unlimited data, and cheaper.

I have a plus net account as well ... they are just as shit as BT, but their service is better .. My holiday home is served by them , and .. well.. when it comes to problems, they fob you off with ... 'BT says this .. and thats all we can do' .. so theres your answer

I assume Openreach must be obliged to meet response targets, if they fail those targets, methinks the switched on providers get a rebate for their failed resolutions, because they in turn have to compensate their customers for lack of ' up' time.

Its not in BT's/plus nets interest to fine or charge one of its own companies
