Electric mowers

I am about to buy an 80v Cobra roller rotary , when they come back into stock next month. Have a look . I had their petrol version which was very very good.

Isn't a chainsaw to cut the grass overkill

Love STHIL, but I wouldn't swap my petrol chainshaw for anything electric

Should have been more clearer on that I have the AP battery’s as well which works with the mower and the strimmer etc can you explain why you wouldn’t swap I use them for tree surgery work and have no issues also run 500i as well for really big stuff but not much the new STIHL 300AP runs at 30m/s which is faster than my 500i at 24m/s

Well genuinely pleased to have been kicked up the backside by this thread. Bought the Ryobi hedge cutter and strimmer battery powered combo with one basic battery between them. £154 all in, could have trimmed a bit off that but used a trusted local physical shop.

Had a trial with both and so impressed. Great to lose the weight of the Honda hedge cutter yet still be free of a mains supply. Similarly not having to reel out the extension cable and have its cable all over the place with the strimmer is brilliant.

The fact the old tools will make give or take the cost of the new ones is the icing on the cake.

Old items on left and new pair on right.

Pleased you're pleased David. Post an update in a few weeks time once you've given them a good trial.

Will do. This ticks off another step on my personal road to making things easy for full retirement.

You'd love this shop. A major Milwaukee dealer with 90% of their range on display... a real boy's toys store.

I bought the same trimmer. What surprised me was how long the 2ah battery lasted and the thickness of the stuff it would chomp through.

The brand seems a fair compromise re cost for basic garden use.

I probably should have bought the one with the pole extension though as going up on a ladder to do the tops isn't the easiest way. I'll be looking for a used one of those over winter.

I certainly saw chainsaws and strimmers in that brand but no never noticed a lawn mower. The shop is a sea of red and lime green.

>>> What surprised me was how long the 2ah battery lasted and the thickness of the stuff it would chomp through.

We don't have enough hedge or edge to strim here to ever test the battery endurance on a single charge but yes I noticed the unexpected cutting power of the hedge trimmer. My only previous experience of a battery one was an early attempt some 25+ years ago dad bought on a whim. Hopeless... would stall on the lightest hedge. But this Ryobi seems to go through 1/2" with ease.
