Bear in mind that current production figures for Defender makes up a very small percentage of total build, from memory current production is about 4K to 5K per year where as Disco is 185K and Freelander was about 100K per year.. This defiantly will slue the results towards the higher build models but when looked at in customer terms this is were the business is. Des
Yet another Land Rover quote Des

"Our figures say 40 percent of Land Rover customers go off-road, vs. 10 percent for all SUVs," Landre told us.

I NEVER believe statistics without checking them out first!!! I have seen all sorts of different figures but never the 95% you mentioned.....

Given the massive number of Land rover clubs and magazines etc devoted to offroading I find your figures somewhat suprising....

Just quoting what other have to say!!!

The "Stally" today known as "Stolly" - which was on the link I posted!!!

Do a search on Google and you will find plenty of mentions of BOTH names - so neither is right or wrong!!!

Bit like scONes and sCONEs I suppose - I tend to use the opposite of what the other person says just to annoy them!!!

some great pics here!!!

I’ve actually driven a Stolly, or as we call it a Stoolly and I wouldn’t want to own one.
My main criticism was the cab ergonomics, I can only think it was designed for someone with a 1’ body and 4’ arms but I think this is true of a lot of MOD vehicle
Unfortunately it didn’t have the amphibious kit on it, so I’ve not really had the full experience Des

Back on thread (sorry Jimbo)

I’m a little dubious about the secondhand Japanese imports because there is the potential for all sorts of things to have happened between Japan and here and once here you often see imported vehicles lurking in some forgotten corner of the docks for months on end
Water, especially sea water is such a vehicle killer. Des
