Solent - Sunday 10 June 2007
I will be out for a day trip on Sunday 10th June, launching Warsash about 0930 hrs. If anyone would like to join me then maybe we could make a cruise out of what is looking to be a very hot day.

We were hoping to get out on Saturday for the festival but it now looks like Sunday will be our only option.
I'll firm up nearer the time.

Hugh,
No ideas as yet. Both adults in my boat but I suppose if we are going somewhere we can always split up at lunchtime and do our own thing. Then meet up again after lunch for a return trip. I'm open to suggestions.
My friend has said he doesn't like big waves so its going to be a reasonably gentle day.
Nick.

Poole??
OK, so weather is looking good. I quite fancy a trip to Poole, since I missed the last one.
Forecast is for clear skies and winds about 5/6 knots in solent area and Poole
I should be on the water at about 0930 and at Calshot at about 1000.
Will probably have to stop at Yarmouth to top up the tanks.
Chris, are you still out, is this too much for the kids?
Nick, got your pm, would also prefer to do a trip like this in company, fancy it?
Anyone else fancy coming along?

Neil,
We will be on the water at 0930 hrs. Would love to do Poole and possibly that bunch of rocks that are a little further on just for a look.
I'll be on Channel 77 and listening. I'll head off straight away for the Needles as my friend wants to do some fishing for half an hour and then wait for a call on the radio. I've also PM'd you both my mobile number.
regards NR.

Then we can have a chat later. Not passing your house unless you don't live in Reading!!

Then can call you from Yarmouth or so.
Talk later.
Note, I settled on the name Zonneschijn II (said Zon-ners-hain), not using Vixen!

Neither. It's Dutch, so 'Twee'. Just to be awkward

A Rough Plan
Okay heres a rough plan for tomorrows run, not fixed, more for my benefit but useful nonetheless. (most of it was stolen from Biggles' plan last October and updated for tides etc).
Feel free to shout for amendments.
Monitor Ch 77 for meet points
Inshore Forecast
Selsey Bill to Lyme Regis
Issued by the Met Office at 1800 UTC on Saturday 09 June 2007
24 hour forecast:
Wind - Variable 2 or 3, occasionally 4, with daytime sea breezes.
Weather - Fog patches, isolated showers mainly in east.
Visibility - Moderate or good, occasionally very poor.
Sea State - Smooth or slight.
Tides
Cowes Tides:
HW: 07:13 3.7m
LW: 12:31 1.3m
HW: 20:00 3.9m
Calshot Tides:
HW: 06:42 3.9m
LW: 12:38 1.6m
HW: 19:27 4.1m
Yarmouth Tides:
HW: 07:03 2.7m
LW: 12:19 1.2m
HW: 19:45 2.8m
Poole Entrance Tides:
HW1: 04:51 1.7m
HW2: 08:01 1.6m
LW: 12:19 0.8m
HW: 18:55 1.8m
Looks like we will be launching about half way between low tide and high tide and retrieving as it gets to high tide again.
Timings assume average Cruising speed 20 Knots. Dependant on weather conditions and sea state.
1000 hrs Depart Calshot
Arrive Yarmouth circa 1030
Break and Rendez-vous point if required
Rendevous Point just outside Yarmouth is just west of the harbour entrance at the small craft moorings. N50 42.499 W1 30.269
Depart yarmouth at 1100 hrs and head for Poole. Their are no intended stops between Yarmouth and Poole, apart from a rendezvous with Biggles to be arranged.
Distance from Yarmouth to Poole is 18 Nautical Miles. At 20 knots this will take close to one hour. Therefore our arrival off Poole harbour entrance should be 1200 hrs.
A potential rough course from Yarmouth to Poole will follow the following (Nick, I stole this from your thread of the last trip, most of this actually, was this route OK?)
1) Sconce at N50 42.641 W1 31 926.
2) Off NE Shingles at N50 42.052 W1 32 976.
3) North Head at N50 42.744 W1 35.447 Possible meet up with the Poole reception committee from this point on.
4) Off Henigstbury Head at N50 40.000 W1 44.714. (changed from N50 41.512 to avoid Christchurch Ledge)
5) Outer limits of Poole Harbour marked channel at N50 39.261 W1 55.147.
Hopefully we should all be landed and at the bar at about 1230 hrs.
If we aim to depart at the town quay at 1430 hrs this should give time to explore the harbour a bit or get us back to Calshot about 1700 hrs, including stops for anyone requiring fuel at Yarmouth.
Communications will be via Channel 77 on VHF.
As usual this is a casual cruise; skippers are responsible for their boats and the people on them – RIBnet nor I can not be held responsible for anything that happens. Obviously we will all keep a good look out for each other, and it should be a great day out.

Just spoke to Hugh and sounds like we are all aiming to meet up off Calshot around 0930 hrs - 1000 hrs.
Neil thats a slight amendment. I will meet up with you and Hugh at Calshot and we'll shoot off down in a group. Should get some good photos that way. karen took some good ones last time.
Whilst Neil is refuelling I might take the opportunity to go straight on to the Needles and do a little fishing. Once everything is sorted we can re group and head for Poole.

No need for a fuel stop if no-one else needs to - I'll have quite a full tank anyway, adn 200lts is plenty I hope!!!
But... As I discussed with Chris, I could be a bit late, as they will only be launching me at 9am tomorrow. Should be no later than 10:15 though I would hope.
