Solent Social

Just testing the water ( no pun intended ) to see if there's any interest in the odd social in and around the Solent – maybe organised fun days and BBQ’s, meet-ups at festivals like Bournemouth air show to cruises further afield crossing the channel etc ( all of course abiding to rib.net cruising rules )

Is there interest, if so what would skippers and crews like to do, how often and where?

I appreciate on the calendar is the annual Nacho run to Yarmouth and of course the MacMillan round the island but there's plenty of opportunity for more events.

I guess its also reassuring if your slightly nervous about a longer trip having company / buddy boats is never a bad thing.

What do people think?

Definitely interested once I get my choice of boat sorted. I'm at the top end of Chichester Harbour.

+1, actually +2 because my boating buddy only reads posts!

I have a RC berthed at SDS and it would be good to meet up with some fellow ribbers

On my bucket list this year is a trip across the Channel for an overnight stopover

Hi guys.

I'd love trip down your way. Over night camp and a day out on the Solent. Maybe even brave it over to the I.O.W if you're heading that way.

Cliff

I'd be up for a meeting.. just got myself a 4.9m with 60hp 2 stroke so a long distance jaunt is out of the question for me, but i always enjoy a blast to IOW and a BBQ in new area's for me sounds like a plan!

Also possibly interested. RIB on Hayling Island, fairly new to me and fancy a trip to the IOW.

So, is anyone going to be out on the first weekend of May? Likely to be the first day out in my new Rib. Would live to meet up with a few people, maybe travel to IOW and back together so add some support to each other..... not that its a long crossing... but my Ribs an unknown quantity at the mo being its first outing with me and being adrift in the Solent is not fun.... been there, done that!

Round the Island Race - Latest news this Saturday, over 1300 competitors - its quite a sight!
Racing starts at 5.30am and the first boats should be western Solent around 7am? We'll be out watching the fun and quite happy to meet up with other RIBs , leaving Yarmouth around 6.45am
