Got back safe and sound. Good to meet up with a couple more, new to me, RIBNET members. Hi Chris, Simon and Rob. Was a little bit choppy so had to keep an eye on the speed. Also lots of large wood planks floating around which caused me a little bit of angst. We even saw a complete packing case at one stage just sitting underneath the surface. Our journey took us to Poole where we managed to find a pub that only sold sea food. Quite nice though. We had a bounce around Old Harry which had some nice waves rolling in. Hopefully there should be some good shots of 'Danny Boy' flying across them.
Boring details are 74.8 Nautical miles travelled and used 60 Litres of fuel. 1.24 NM per Litre.

Was a good day to be out.

Lots of wood floating on the surface, I'd like to thank Havener (Simon) for being a second pair of eyes today. I recon he thought I was trying to hit every piece of wood and lobster marker bouy/drum/thin little cane eminating from the sea

Nick, I dare not look at my fuel usage today, would scare me too much. How do you put a price on FUN though?

Andy 007 was busy with the camera today and hope he got one or two of Solent Viper airbourn, which we managed to do fequently off of Old Harry Rock just South of Poole Harbour.

Best looking RIB went to the Brigg of Grimesrfg (Rob) very nice!

All performed exellently, even Chris's little Danny Boy, even if the journey was a little wet and bumpy on the way home. I'm sure he'll be feeling it tomorrow.

Anyway, not too many pics today so only have a couple to show you.

That explains why we had to keep waiting for you then!! Seriously, most impressive fuel consumption, mine is approx double yours as we used 120 litres for only a little further distance - Ouch!!

A quck couple of pics - best selection will be posted shortly.

Great day.

Just got back and what was a slight tickle in my throat this morning has turned into shivers and a really sore throat ! Had a great day although the Solent chop put up a good fight. I have decided to relocate my helm to the top face of the console so I can stand properly as sitting down definately makes things ten times worse !

Nice to meet some new people and see another part of the country ive never been to !

Thanks to all for a great day, especially to Andy for even being kind enough to tell me before we did 90 degree turns to avoid the wood

How the hell fisherman expect people to see grey lobster pots with grey markers on a grey sea I don't know...

Good day meeting people, nice to put faces to names.

See you all soon no doubt.

Nos - not sure about the origin of the timber. Suspect general crap rather than Ice Princess, looked to short for that. Lot about though, most of it damn near invisible.

Simon

Did anyone find there speed much reduced on the final leg up the West Solent ? Usual speed against revs seemed at least 6 knots + slower than what I would expect. I wasn't falling behind anyone and in fact was catching up until I found more wood so it seems we might have all been suffering from something.

Maybe the tide racing out was taking a good few knots off us. When Hightower and I landed we had real trouble coming alongside as the tide was racing out and pushing us away from the pontoon.

Maxed out at 35 knotts though Hurst and went upto 37 a little further down, then did a high speed run in opposite direction and did 40 knotts, there was quite a tide run as we both found out on the pontoon

Biggles you were probably slowing down as the salt water in your gearbox took hold
